New Jersey Medical School (NJMS) is a graduate therapeutic school of Rutgers University that is a piece of the division of Biomedical and Health Sciences. NJMS is the most seasoned institute of pharmaceutical in New Jersey. The institute of drug was established in 1954 as the Seton Hall College of Medicine and Dentistry, secured under the support of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Newark, in Jersey City, New Jersey. On August 6, 1954, the College was joined as a legitimate substance separate from Seton Hall University, yet with an interlocking Board of Trustees. The five star of 80 understudies was admitted to the four-year MD program in September 1956, getting to be just the sixth therapeutic school in the New York City metropolitan range. In 1965, the establishment was obtained by the State of New Jersey, renamed the New Jersey College of Medicine and Dentistry (NJCMD), and moved to Newark, New Jersey. Cahill on June 16, the College of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey (CMDNJ) was made, blending NJCMD with the two-year medicinal school built at Rutgers University in 1961, under a solitary leading body of trustees.

In 1981, enactment marked on December 10 by Governor Byrne secured CMDNJ as the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey (UMDNJ). On June 28th, 2012 the New Jersey state governing body passed a charge that broke up the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey and combined the vast majority of its schools including New Jersey Medical School with Rutgers University shaping another Rutgers Division of Biomedical and Health Sciences successful July first, 2013.
